It combines great game play with great story line. This rarely occurs in the more recent string of RPGs. Also, there is something to be said for the replayability. I have played through Chrono Trigger several times, each time in a different direction with different results. You just don't see those kinds of options anymore. Oblivion has endless options with little to no story and Mass Effect has a great story with ultimately few options. No game has match Chrono Trigger.

That... moreThis is a tough comparison and will need lots of justification to avoid the inevitable flaming. Let me start by saying both of these games are amazing in their own right and both are classics. That being said, Chrono Trigger is comparatively better.
While replay-ability is high with both games, Chrono Trigger is the only one that offers a different experience with each play through. Zelda is linear.
Chrono Trigger gives depth to its characters. By the end of the game, we still know very little about Link.
Both games have excellent music plots and challenges. Zelda has better puzzles but Chrono Trigger has better interactions/dialogue. Chrono Trigger keeps a sense of humor that Zelda misses out on.
Lastly Chrono Trigger feels like you’re a part of a world. I can’t help but feel bored when playing Zelda. If I’m going to play games for hours, I prefer to at least feel like there is some story unfolding.

First off, the combat system of Mario RPG was interactive and skill based. It made fighting more fun. Second it had great puzzles (some extremely difficult) which made the game feel challenging.
The big difference, in my opinion, is that Chrono Trigger had a coherent plot line. At several instances of playing Mario RPG I would forget the goal. Let me be specific, I'm not saying that the cheesy feel of the game is somehow deminishing. Rather, the story itself is not cohesive.last activity: 11/18/2008 5:11 am 4

but if i have to choose for on i had the most fun with. id go for chrono trigger.Since i live in holland. chrono trigger was rereleased here a couple of months ago on Nintendo DS. ive played the SNES version too. stil got the SNES. but i lost chrono trigger. i was so happy when i got rereleased on DS.
great game, very good converted for use with the stylo. more clean play screen. i had lots of fun with the game (Again).
great game,. one of the ebst RPG's ever.
PS: have you ever wondered why there are refridgerators in the houses in the present time (1000AD). hahah i noticed those and i was like. wtf? xD
