Both exclusives for the 360 and both have a coop and they basically have the same fighting aliens theme. The only thing is that will be a better compare is gears 3 with halo 3. I felt that gears 2 was a lot better. The main thing that sold me is that the shotgun wasn't nerfed and the boss was better. I am an avid shotgun user in video games and that was the most fun with halo was the shotgun in halo 3 they basically said I don't like shotguns except for very close range, even then there were many other weapons that were better. The guns in gears 2 felt more balanced. I could have any gun and not feel like I would be at a disadvantage in any situation, while in Halo 3 certain guns were needed for certain areas. The boss battle actually made sense in gears 2. Both games the player gets a BFG but halo 3 you fight the training bot from Star Wars were as with gears 3 (keeping with the comparison) you fight an Imperial Cruiser or at least an AT-AT and Gears 2 doesn't make you test your driving capabilities with random pieces falling out of the floor. This is by no means complete feel free to tack on in the comments.last activity: 3/4/2009 6:03 pm5

The cliche tough guy sci-fi marine type character is over done and annoying. The thing that won it for me is the length. CoD:W@W's was maybe 3-6 hours long depending on how you play.Multiplayer, however, is where Call of Duty takes the win. Gears 2 is glitchy and the matchmaking idea was done terribly. The feel of CoD:W@W always played better in my eyes, Gears felt like you were running through mud, while CoD felt real, and overall more fun. The gameplay mechanics in CoD also helped it take the cake. The controls are much simpler, and the learning curve for online doesn't feel as steep. Plus, there's customization, that's always a plus.last activity: 3/1/2009 12:03 am5

Gears of War 2 Call of Duty: World at War Overall Comparison In response to Dervy's comparison:
Gears of War 2 had one of the most epic campaigns I've ever played. AND it's long. AND you can play co-op. (It did end kinda lame, though.)

GoW 2 also has "Horde", which is far more entertaining than "Zombie Mode". Speaking of which, why don't you just play Left 4 Dead? There's actual gameplay in both "Horde" and L4D.
The multiplayer, how ever laggy it may be for you, is brilliant on so many levels. The weapons, the maps, everything. And bots.
And why do the controls feel "muddy" to Dervy? I do not know. Maybe it's because the game plays very differently. It's about weaving through and jumping over cover. In many ways, the game is actually more tactical than COD.
And a machine gun with a chainsaw. 'Nuff said.
(Honestly, I've never played WaW, but I've played COD4, and I can tell you nothing has changed from what I've seen of WaW.)last activity: 3/3/2009 9:03 pm3
