I can remember that this game, like many others, was supposed to be a "Halo Killer".
Now I myself tend to hate Halo, if due to the fanbase more than anything. I never thought Halo did anything incredibly revolutionary or special. However, I'm finding myself liking Resistance even less. Resistance does have a few cool weapons without feeling like they're all the same, including a standard assault rifle, sniper, energy gun that shoots through walls, shotgun, and a mini-gun that shoots needles. Neat! The enemies are also interesting to look at too.
However, I absolutely hate the AI in Resistance, and for one reason only: They all have perfect accuracy. Seriously, in a typical FPS these days, you can pop out from cover and sit there while capping off a few baddies while their bullets go whizzing by you. However in this game, you have to literally be dodging the entire time! If you hold still for a second, you're gonna get hit! The only reason you're able to win is because the enemies' energy bullets travel so rediculously slow.
I give the first Halo the win because I remember having more fun during the co-op campaign than I did with Resistance, plus I enjoyed screwing around in vehicles and doing stuff I wasn't supposed to (like squeezing a Warthog through a tunnel that it shouldn't go in)last activity: 12/29/2008 8:12 pm

Halo: Combat Evolved for the PC was outstanding, to this day many people still play it, for the online Multiplayer. clearly could be considered one of the best shooters for PC. The multiplayer in Halo was something new, something that the Xbox didn't have. Which made the game more uniqe.
Halo 2 ( Vista ): What happened? Well Microsoft thought it would be a good idea to use Halo 2 as a way to get people to buy Windows Vista. Not only was this game only for Vista users but it didn't gain as much hype because of the release of halo 3, and it was technically a 3 year long convert to the PC. No content was added, and it was basically the same exact game... Who wants the same thing twice?last activity: 12/15/2008 7:12 pm

Halo was pretty great, Fresh new game back in that day. looking back Halo is still among one of my favorite. and probably will remain so, first person shooters.
Call of duty 4 is what... a year old now? a little more? It's played second most on the xfire community. but it is the number one most played first person shooter on the xfire community. of course followed by call of duty 2. Call of duty 4 brought almost exactly what everybody wanted in a fps I would say, war, but at a here-and-now scenario with customizable weapons out the butt...
Halo at the time was just classic single-player, co-op, and multi-player ( now known as split-screen on most games), LAN was a big deal too. 16 vs 16 was nice. weapons were nice. and strategies were created. terrain was simple. blood gulch probably being the most fun/simplistic map ive ever layed eyes on. 2 bases, 1 canyon.
Call of duty 4's terrain is destructable. shooting through walls is a great advantage. and since all the maps are more "maze" like. you have to realy be on your toes sometimes. another great feature of both games but i think is more enhanced in cod4 is the motion tracker. normaly in mutliplayer on cod4 you earn this by killing a certain number of people in a row. and then the effects last for only a few seconds. halo has a longer one but it wasnt as fun knowing where everyone was.last activity: 2/26/2009 11:02 pm

Perfect Dark has dual-wielding of the same weapon, Halo has no dual-wielding. Perfect Dark has alternate modes for every weapon, some quite different from the main function, and Halo does not. Perfect Dark has many more unique and fun weapons, Halo has very few weapons. Perfect Dark has amazing in-game music, Halo only has a decent main theme. Perfect Dark has a fun, replayable solo campaign, Halo has the Library. Perfect Dark has Co-Op and Counter-Op two-player modes, Halo only has Co-Op. Perfect Dark has many more options for multiplayer such as customizable avatars and bots and fun levels, Halo has palette swaps and Blood Gulch. I still play Perfect Dark with my brother, and Halo sits in a stack gathering dust.
The only advantage Halo has is system link for up to 16 players, which is indeed amazingly fun.last activity: 1/12/2009 6:01 am
