It's a big MMO with a nice storyline and a lot of expansions for if you want additional storyline. especially Eye of the north. The Quests kept me the most entertained while trying to figure out how to progress in the actual storyline was, for some reason, a major challenge for me. took me about a week.
Fable: This game Is a regular RPG no online play at all. But the storyline and customization really puts this one up against Guild Wars. You can use all forms of battle in this game, where as in Guild Wars you can only use certain tools and weapons for each class type.
Fable also has that good/evil thing going on where your actions can result in a change of character. Scars on your body soon show from battle, and the world is your playground to do as you please
Guild Wars only lets you kill and destroy monsters, it is fun, but sometimes tedious. Especially when on quests. And not very realistic when it comes to battle injury.
Of course with Guild wars you can make parties and go on quests with that party thats a good feature, but what is not a good feature in Guild wars is the fact that you can only buy your persons armor at the shops, if you want to get a gift for your friend, youll have to find some other means of obtaining that said armor.last activity: 12/21/2008 10:12 pm2

Guild Wars is free after initial purchase which makes a far better value than most, if not all other MMO's.
Beyond that, Final Fantasy Online failed to meet my expectations for what a FF game should be. While it had the major classes I was looking for, ie dragoon, summoner, mage, and the such; it did not have a quality gameplay layout. It often felt hallow, as though only a handful of people were playing.
Guild Wars on the other hand was exciting. The classes were a bit strange but once you got the hang of it you could build a character exactly how you wanted. There was not as much waiting around. Guild Wars was particularly good at making the game exciting both while soloing and partying. It effectively made skill and strategy the primary goal, eliminating long grinds for little XP.
Lastly, in order for an MMO to stand over time it must have decent graphics. I am personally not into graphics much at all, that is until I fire up Final Fantasy Online. The fact is that the game looks grainy and slow from the very begining. The evironments lack any sort of vibrance. Guild Wars however does not. The details are not missed in GW.
Overall GW is just a better game all around. Cost, Gameplay, Strategy, and Graphics make it a far more entertaining game to play. Being free, also keeps the numbers relatively high. It's no WoW but it certainly will curb that craving for MMO action.last activity: 2/9/2009 8:02 am4

DnD's quest system is not go here kill this. no.. its a storyline voice actors and all.
Guild wars does the same thing but guild wars you have to buy. also with guild wars there was like a cap at level 20 and then confusion. and then the repetition got to me and just yeah.
but I have to say that the quest I just got through with on DnD was the most fantastic quest I've ever seen in an mmo that I co-op'd through. I would go back and play it again but I'm getting tired.last activity: 7/20/2009 11:07 am3

It's that time again, yes that time that I review games that the casual video game player probably has never heard about (well they might have heard about guild wars).
Runes of Magic and Guild wars are both free to play games. Except Guild wars requires you buy it. so technically what I mean by a F2P game is that of no monthly fees.
Runes of Magic is, dare I say it, a clone of World of Warcraft. And dare I say again that Runes of Magic is a much better game than Guildwars IN my opinion.
Level Cap: RoM: 55, GW: 20, personally I like a larger level cap than 20, level 20 isn't very intimidating.
World: Unlike guild wars, RoM's world outside of cities and forts are not realy "disconnected" from eachother. In GW you would leave town or a fort, and then unless you had a party you were pretty much on your own, no other characters out there. RoM (and like a million other mmo's) does the classic everyone goes everywhere scenario. except for a few areas I believe, I haven't gotten that far to find out about those area's, I keep dying. The fact that it is open world makes it so much easier to find help on the spot with a quest.
Quests: The quests in RoM aren't what I expected they would be. the fact that you can do more than just kill things in this game really does add to the entertainment value of quests and continued playability. some quests have you gather materials such as herbs, some of course have you kill certain creatures, and some have you help a fallen NPC.
equipment: there is a larger amount of usable equpiment in Runes of Magic as compared to Guild Wars, but who am I to talk that way. I never got all the expansion packs for Guild wars all I got was Eye of the north.
Stupidity: RoM has walking/talking dog npc's that controll the portals... kinda stupid. guild wars takes the cake here against stupidity.last activity: 1/1/2010 2:01 am1
