single player too is better in cod4, but still annoying at times. once, i didnt realize that i needed to advance in order to stop the enemies from respawning, so i sat in one spot for about 5 minutes waiting for them to stop. i liked the variety in the missions in cod4.
overall, its all about cod4.

It was two rectangles moving around the screen hitting a square back and forth. No fancy 3D graphics, no single player mode, no online multiplayer. But what it did was make people want to play video games. People lined up to play because it was such an amazing new concept.
Now, what has Halo 3 done for us? Its given us another cool game to play. It didn't bring new people into gaming really, not like Pong did. It's a fun game, but that's not what I'm trying to get at in this comparison.
Pong helped define an industry, Halo 3 just helped it along. Pong was a simple concept that did amazing things. Halo 3 was just another sweet game.last activity: 3/16/2009 11:03 am

Half-Life 2

For the sake of time, I'll be shortening Halflife 2 to HL2 and Halo 3 to H3 as I go on.
The matter of the fact is, despite having been released 3 years prior, HL2 is superior on numerous levels (though admittedly, this is often the way with older games). For a start, there is a level of atmosphere in HL2 that crops up often that you just never find in any stage on H3. H3 wasn't helped by its predecessors, which although give the story, you can easily play it as if H1 and H2 never existed, I did. However HL2 had massive expectations to live up to, just with HL1's reputation. It fully pulled it off. The character interactions, the way the dystopian pre-apocalyptic cityscape could pull you in and the amazing graphics / physics engine made H3 feel like an adrenaline-junkie breezeblock.
I don't know how long these are meant to be, but I could go on for a lot longer but I just want to make my first post short, blunt and quite frankly rubbish. I don't think I enjoyed H3 even half as much as I enjoyed HL2, maybe I'm just a sucker for a bit of horror, too much Sci Fi puts me off, but personal opinions aside, HL2 is just generally superior to H3. The only thing H3 had in superiority to HL2 is... uh... Publicity? No wait, that doesn't affect the game play in the slightest...last activity: 12/18/2008 6:12 pm

I'm a fan of both franchises and I still feel that Snake Eater was better than Halo's latest outing. Maybe it's because I like the tactical, stealthy feel of snake to the brutal, blunt methods of master chief. Plus who dosent love the classic hiding in the cardboard box trick?

Both exclusives for the 360 and both have a coop and they basically have the same fighting aliens theme. The only thing is that will be a better compare is gears 3 with halo 3. I felt that gears 2 was a lot better. The main thing that sold me is that the shotgun wasn't nerfed and the boss was better. I am an avid shotgun user in video games and that was the most fun with halo was the shotgun in halo 3 they basically said I don't like shotguns except for very close range, even then there were many other weapons that were better. The guns in gears 2 felt more balanced. I could have any gun and not feel like I would be at a disadvantage in any situation, while in Halo 3 certain guns were needed for certain areas. The boss battle actually made sense in gears 2. Both games the player gets a BFG but halo 3 you fight the training bot from Star Wars were as with gears 3 (keeping with the comparison) you fight an Imperial Cruiser or at least an AT-AT and Gears 2 doesn't make you test your driving capabilities with random pieces falling out of the floor. This is by no means complete feel free to tack on in the comments.last activity: 3/4/2009 6:03 pm

Left 4 Dead is the saviour of online gaming for the 360. As more and more people get Xbox live, less people seem to talk and work as a team.
In most games, it's not much of a problem, unless you get stuck on the losing team, and no one will listen to your comments. In contrast, if you decide to go for a single player romp in Left 4 Dead, your screwed.
Its taken people awhile to work this out, and, granted, there are still alot of young kiddies grabbing the Xbox controller and trying in vain to run through a level by themselves, but alot of games that you get pulled into have some teamwork in one way or another.
Sure, Halo 3 was a great game, but no one talks on it anymore, and when they do, its insulting geek speak, and it becomes quite boring quite quickly when its like this - there is not much of a communicative community within the games.
On Left 4 Dead, its just far more fun, even though theres only a few levels, the game is just so hilarious, and brings people together over Live. Its a game that will never get old for me, whereas, Halo 3 did fast.ubiquitousubiquitous Level 7last activity: 2/27/2009 6:02 pm
