  • Fable 2 is better than World of Warcraft
    Overall Comparison

When looking back through the ages of fantasy RP gaming and the different plot lines/ideas, alot are similar.

WoW is not any different than most fantasy games and the characters are quite bland. The typical races, troll, elf, human, do have their different quirks but all-in-all they are following the mold which was set.

Fable II, although more about following the storyline then meeting and fighting people online, I found was more adventurous and more fun due to the multiple expressions and quests you can complete. The baddies are not necessarily well-thought out but along with some of the usual villians, there are new ones such as the Hobbes and Balverines.

Also, I have never played a game until Fable that dealt with Banshees. I thought that was cool. The trolls looked more organic to their environment instead of their clothing matching their territory and the Hollow Men were a little creepier than the typical skeletons.

I was surprised to hear British comedian Stephen Fry's voice as one of Fable's characters [Reaver] and laughed quite hard at the end.

  • My problem is is the to me Fable 2's story did not engage me enough, also I felt that things came to easy. I could easily make money, buy weapons, kill bad guys, and win people's affection.
WoW at least has more interesting stories and money depends on the global economy. Nothing comes to easy in WoW. Also there is almost always a better weapon or piece of armor.

  • I don't really think this is too fare a comparison, as the games aren't really similar enough to compare.

The character development in fable uses a really fun experience system to help power up certain abilities, be it magic-based, ranged attacks, or melee. You can do some pretty awesome stuff if you take the time to get enough XPs, but I always felt it took an unnecessary amount of time to build up just one ability.

Character development in WoW is similar in the fact that each class has three different trees you can "spec" into. The pacing for gaining abilities makes much more sense with the leveling system: Starting at level 10 you get a Talent Point to use after every level gained.

It's a lot easier if you decide to change your spec in WoW. You just have to pay some gold at a trainer and pick a new Talent Set. In Fable 2 if you decide you want to change your strengths, such as going primarily with magic instead of being ranged, you have to sacrifice half of the experience it took you to get there.

Both games are a lot of fun and provide hours of endless gameplay, whether you just stick to the story/questing or take time to enjoy all of the extra content.

Probably my biggest reason for picking WoW above Fable 2 is how long I've been playing the games for. I can get bored with Fable 2 pretty fast, and when you can play WoW with a seemingly limitless amount of friends it's a really easy choice for me.

Now to wrap up my novel. I just want to reiterate that this is kind of an unfair comparison: A MMORPG Vs. a RPG. I guess it depends on if you prefer playing with other gamers, or would rather enjoy a solo experience (unless you have two controllers, then you can pretend it's a multiplayer game. . . . . .with some terrible camera angles).
