BRAND FREAKIN' NEW HERE!!!

As stated above, I am new!

:)

Been a Gamer for about 4 years now. My main platform was [I'm not ashamed to say] computer, playing Doom and Duke Nukem 3D -blushes-

I then moved on to the next hottest platform at the time which is some sort of white box called an Xbox 360? I think that's right. . .

HAHAHA :P jk jk

Anyway, I've been playing on that for about a year with my fiance.

He got me hooked on COD (4 & WaW), then I got him hooked on Left 4 Dead, Midnight Club and even Resident Evil. (He and I are not the Halo, Gears of War type people)

Anyway, glad to be on the site and hope to meet everyone!!

    • I am not ashamed to say that I started playing on the computer first.

I am a lil embarassed to say I played Doom and Duke 3D due to the fact that I'm a girl.

      lol

      I get it alot. . . a guy on COD:WaW didn't believe me when I said that I was a chick.

      He thought I was another 12 yr old. . . couldn't convince him otherwise. . .

  • Impressive that you been playing 360 for a year with your finance.  My finance is good enough to let me buy whatever I feel like playing, usually.  Sometimes my finance is a bit tight and I have to take it easy.

    Ok I'll stop being mean.

      • This is the thing when it comes to women on gaming sites.
First you introduce the girl.  Then you soon get these kinds of people:
        1) The guy that gets crazy excited and starts trying to be friends with said girl and asks for pics and e-mail address cause he thinks he has a shot

        2) The guy that tries to claim "stop making such a big deal just cause she's a girl", in order to try and make himself look morally superior and cool by "not caring"

        3) The guy that actually does not care (these are the people who read but don't post)

        4) The guy that overanalyzes the situation i.e. Me

  • I'd count myself as more of a 3 in that list, Its not that I don't care...I just have a girl friend...so the first 2 don't apply, and the 4th one I'm to lazy to over analyze the situation in this case...and I don't reply because i'm out of games to  compare, and quite a bit of the games that are compared...I haven't played one or the other..or both...lol

but as I'm sure you're well aware of...(you've had quite a big greeting :D) Welcome to MFG!!
    3/13/2009 2:03 pm
    • you also posted. so that would strike out number 3 completely.

    • Haha, considering how much you analyzed where to put yourself in that list, I would peg you as a 4!
Nah but it's all in good fun though.

When looking back through the ages of fantasy RP gaming and the different plot lines/ideas, alot are similar.

WoW is not any different than most fantasy games and the characters are quite bland. The typical races, troll, elf, human, do have their different quirks but all-in-all they are following the mold which was set.

Fable II, although more about following the storyline then meeting and fighting people online, I found was more adventurous and more fun due to the multiple expressions and quests you can complete. The baddies are not necessarily well-thought out but along with some of the usual villians, there are new ones such as the Hobbes and Balverines.

Also, I have never played a game until Fable that dealt with Banshees. I thought that was cool. The trolls looked more organic to their environment instead of their clothing matching their territory and the Hollow Men were a little creepier than the typical skeletons.

I was surprised to hear British comedian Stephen Fry's voice as one of Fable's characters [Reaver] and laughed quite hard at the end.

Yes, WoW has the Blood Elves and the Dwarfs and The Shadowy Undead but Diablo II I found was more creative and more challenging.

I understand that Diablo was more walking and going to find your targets, but WoW was very "walk-a-few-paces-kill-target-and-complete-quest" kind of deal. Diablo dealt with more bosses, even during the first few levels.

All-in-all, I enjoy WoW, but still prefer Diablo II over it.

As stated by many, Duke Nukem seems to have the higher notch in the gaming stick.

I started my gaming on a PC [like most people] and I never went for the old "girlie games" [actually there weren't any :P]. My dad was ALWAYS playing on the PC and eventually got me to try it [attempted with my lil sis too, she doesn't even know where the space bar is!]

I caught on very fast. My father always played either Doom or Starcraft. I started off with SC due to the level of difficulty needed. I passed with flying colours. Then I tried my hand at Doom. Yet again, passed with flying colours, even beating my Dad's high score.

He then bought Duke Nukem 3D. I must admit, I quickly forgot about Doom after that. I thought the grittiness that Duke had gave the game more realistic qualities.

Needless to say, as much as I loved Doom, Duke by far beats its predecessor.

As much as MK has the new characters of DC [Joker, Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman etc.] added to the list of original characters [Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya, Liu Kang, Raiden etc.] the game-play was the same.

The story line was interesting due to the question of  "How the HELL are we gonna blend these two worlds together?".

Left 4 Dead I found that it was more challenging and intriguing to me even though it was the typical "shoot-em-up" Zombie game. I liked the idea of the Special Infected [Smokers, Boomers, Hunters, Witches] especially the Witches. The idea is NOT to kill her.

    Hmmm, interesting. . .

I also enjoy the fact that this not just a single-player game and takes a group effort to beat it. I found that being the infected was REALLY cool and fun.

Anyway, to make a long story short. I enjoy Left 4 Dead better than Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.

  • Call of Duty: World at War is better than Call of Duty 4
    Overall Comparison
I enjoyed this next step to the series just because of the history behind it. Yes, it is a video game but the clips in between levels were quite educational.
