  • Call of Duty 4 is better than Halo
    Overall Comparison
This will be a quicky because I saw it in the justifications list... and I'm tired.

Halo was pretty great, Fresh new game back in that day. looking back Halo is still among one of my favorite. and probably will remain so, first person shooters.

Call of duty 4 is what... a year old now? a little more? It's played second most on the xfire community. but it is the number one most played first person shooter on the xfire community. of course followed by call of duty 2. Call of duty 4 brought almost exactly what everybody wanted in a fps I would say, war, but at a here-and-now scenario with customizable weapons out the butt...

Halo at the time was just classic single-player, co-op, and multi-player ( now known as split-screen on most games), LAN was a big deal too. 16 vs 16 was nice. weapons were nice. and strategies were created. terrain was simple. blood gulch probably being the most fun/simplistic map ive ever layed eyes on. 2 bases, 1 canyon.

Call of duty 4's terrain is destructable. shooting through walls is a great advantage.  and since all the maps are more "maze" like. you have to realy be on your toes sometimes. another great feature of both games but i think is more enhanced in cod4 is the motion tracker. normaly in mutliplayer on cod4 you earn this by killing a certain number of people in a row. and then the effects last for only a few seconds. halo has a longer one but it wasnt as fun knowing where everyone was.

  • The part that always hurt the Halo series for me were the stupid forcefields.  I hated how I would shoot someone a bunch of times and it just didn't seem like I was doing any damage.  And then some fool would come along and poke the dude with a stick and he would die after all my hard work.

Also, I like bullet weapons in games.

  • Call of Duty 4 is, in my opinion, the best multiplayer fps there is.  Now I say that without playing Team fortress 2 so there is a caveat there.  But overall, I very much agree with what you have said.  I also have to agree with Justin.  In COD4 you are almost guaranteed to get the kill if you sneak up on someone.  But in Halo, because of the ridiculous force field, a kill can't be necessarily a sure thing.

  • I'm sure you don't like doom and pretty much any other non realistic fps. There were fps that you couldn't kill enemies in a couple of hits. They were called bosses. They took skill to kill and you couldn't just walk behind them and hit them to kill them... well some of them you could, but I'm sure the enemies in CoD4 don't like that over the course of a game you can absorb thousands of bullets and not die.

    • For single player, I can enjoy any good FPS, be it realistic, scifi or whatever else.  But for multiplayer, I'm pretty picky.  I don't like Counter-Strike because of the rounds and I don't like Halo because of the shields.  What also really helps for multiplayer is a quick respawn, I'm too impatient to have to have to wait to play again.

      • That does clear it up a little, but the more you play the more you figure out the shields. It's just like how in CoD you can take a couple of bullets before you die, just the amount is a little higher.

      • i agree, thats probably why i hate search and destroy game type on call of duty 2 so much. i sit there and watch other people play after i die only in hopes for our team to win :((

  • I don't know why people like COD4 so much. I mean, it's REALLY GOOD...but it's not that good. The campaign, albeit a few interesting moments, is completely forgettable. The multiplayer is GREAT, but just gets old after a while.

Halo is a classic. In fact, it's still just plain awesome. (The shields are fine; I don't know what your problem is.)

This comparison should never have been made.
