  • I really wish the level cap in Fallout 3 was higher. I hit level 20 fast, only 3/4 of the way through the storyline, and I feel like I missed much of the game's content. Yes, I could still go to the locations, find and complete the quests, and explore the wastelands, but without experience points and the ability to get stronger, what's the point?

Survival horror as a genre is difficult to get right, but both of these games manage to nail it. In the end, though, System Shock 2 really keeps up a more tense and frightening atmosphere that keeps getting more twisted as the truth of the story begins to unfold in front of you. Dead Space's dismemberment feature is interesting and gives standard shooters some strategy, but after a while it starts to feel a little routine. RPG elements are better defined, there are a greater variety of enemies, and of course co-op is always a plus.

You're thinking, why compare these two games? The answer: replayability and game length. Lumines  is fun for a puzzle game, and will likely addict you for a few hours. But in the end, you're doing the same thing over and over again. In Fallout 2, however, the world is constantly introducing new characters, locations, and challenges. Thanks to the level of character customization, you can also create a variety of playthroughs, each one different than the last. It's the reason people keep coming back to Fallout 2, while Lumines merely falls back to the wayside as 'that PSP puzzle game that was pretty popular in the past'.

Spore, while interesting in its amount of customization and amount of design available to you, doesn't manage to win any points in the gameplay department. Little Big Planet, on the other hand, offers an astounding amount of freedom when it comes to creating levels, allowing you to download them as well. In addition, it allows co-op that's easy to get into and fun to play. Spore's content can quickly run out or get tiring, but LBP's content just keeps growing.

Both games share the same engine (though Fallout's is a little more improved), but Fallout 3 does a lot better. Better 'dungeons', a more diverse overworld, a better levelling system, and more interesting characters make the game a lot more fun to play, and a whole lot less repetitive.

A bigger world, more characters, and a huge number of things to do makes Fallout 2 much better than Fallout.  When it comes to sheer amounts of replayability as well, Fallout 2 takes the cake. Both games are great, but the sequel has improved on the original in many ways.
