all games are not created equal

The reason that I didn't care as much for Metroid is actually pretty simple.  Besides the fact that it's way too easy to get lost, I hate how you have absolutely no idea what might be a fake floor or fake wall until you try, making the entire game just trial and error. 

My girlfriend has played the crap out of Metroid and knows where pretty much EVERYTHING is in the game.  The only way to know all the is to have played the game a gazillion times, or use a guide.  Seriously, some of the power-ups you'll only find if you go around and shoot everything, which will wear out my thumb.

Contra is awesome cause it's mindless, frantic, and difficult without being impossible.  It is a game that will turn you into a masochist.
