This time, Point Lookout was released for Fallout 3 without a hitch. Game installed fine, loaded fine, and I've played for about two hours without much issues.
This time we travel to Point Lookout, which is a backwoods swampy area that looks like something from Louisiana or Mississippi. It promises good fortune for treasure hunters and adventure. They aren't completely wrong.
You take a ferry to Point Lookout and find the place to be all but abandoned. There's an amusement boardwalk among the river, and everything seems dark and gloomy. It's a major change from previous Fallout expansions, as this one has dense forest of dying trees.
However, there are fruit plants that are not irradiated that you can pick and eat for health.
Enemies this time include rednecks, ghouls, and tribal members, and the occasional vicious dog and Mirelurk. New weapons include double-barrel shotguns (not sawn-offs), lever-action rifles, axes, and a few others.
The new area is about a fifth of the size of the main Capital Wasteland, so there's plenty to explore. However there only seems to be two major quests this time. The quests are fun, don't get me wrong, but I just wish the area was a little more populated with stuff to do.
This is probably the second-best DLC to date, the first being Broken Steel. I can't wait for the next one, where we get invaded by aliens!
