...Really Grinds My Gears

Like most people here (I'm assuming), Fallout 3 has instantly become one of my favorite games. It's open-ended feel, tons of side-quests, and has interesting story. But I must confess I found a huge 'annoyance' from this great game.
When I played Oblivon I first devoted all my time to beating main story, then took my kick-ass, leveled up character, and completed most of the side-quests. I thought this was great, the game didn't have to end. So of course I went the same route with Fallout 3. But (I'll try not to ruin the story, but I dunno who has not beaten it at this point) when you enter the code and the thing fills with the thing, then you see Thomas Jefferson, then die?!
This was totally unexpected (well maybe when knight said whoever goes in isn't getting out) but still. Not to say the ending was bad in anyway, I have no actual problem with it. Just the fact that it exists in general.
Now I made a new guy and am not even going near the main story line anytime soon.

  • I'm just pissed that your radiation-immune party member won't go in, bringing up some dumb destiny stuff. He's willing to let you die. Bah.

But yes, the ending was extremely disappointing. There were a lot of aspects of the games that could've been much improved.

  • I guess I'm the only guy that hasn't beaten the game yet, though I've been playing it so so much.  There's still many areas I've barely been to.  I've only ran by Paradise Falls and I just finally went to Tenpenny Tower.  Currently I'm supposed to go search for a Geck but I'm busy doing every other things.  The last thing I did was finally visit Canterberry Commons.

    • I haven't beaten it either.  The side quests are entertaining enough that I'm not even remotely bored completing them and exploring the world is just plain fun in itself.

I'm glad I was wrong when I said that Bethesda trying to make a Fallout 3 would be a terrible idea.

I was really just looking to talk about Portable Ops on the PSP. So I choose a random FPS shooter to compare it to. I (as it seems alot of you guys are) am a fan of the Metal Gear franchise. I feel that Portable Ops was one of the first great action-shooter games for the PSP. It utilized the hardware really well. For the record I didn't even play Medal of Honor: Heroes, but didn't hear good things.

After unloading my icon (Luigi) I thought about the game it was from, then realized, "Im at a gaming site!". So I felt I should say how I feel about it. I played both these games at a friends and while both were funny (in the Mario way) LM was the better game. Luigi himself is hilarious in the game and his facial animations stil make me laugh.

Recently played BiA HH. I'll admit I have always been a HUGE fan of the franchise, the story, and depth is what drawn me to it, and original, and fun gameplay is what kept me. The whole of the game is based around using your squad to out manuver you opponents. Though Army of Two was a fun game, I don't feel they are even close.

I know this is a cross-console, and even cross-console generation comparison but I felt it was still appropriate. I'm a fan of both franchises and I still feel that Snake Eater was better than Halo's latest outing. Maybe it's because I like the tactical, stealthy feel of snake to the brutal, blunt methods of master chief. Plus who dosent love the classic hiding in the cardboard box trick?

I'm not making this choice lightly. Both these RPGs are great. But when playing The Elder Scrolls IV me and my friends would always wish that it could be online, that would be the perfect game. Now I'm not saying Fable 2 is perfect, just that its a great game on its own, and the online feature is great. Still patiently waiting for an epic console MMORPG.
