  • Minesweeper is better than Solitaire
    Overall Comparison
There are always times where you're sitting at some strange computer that has no games on it except for the default ones.  When that happens to me, I always go for Minesweeper.

Minesweeper has several difficulty levels and it's timed, so there are several ways to play it.  You can go for a personal best on any of the difficulties or just take your time on the hardest one and try to win.

Solitaire is just solitaire.  It's fun until you've lost 5 games in a row and realize that there is almost no skill at all in playing it.  You even do the ctrl+atl+shift thing to turn over one card at a time but still manage to lose.

    Minesweeper wins by TKO.

  • I agree, Minesweeper is a much better game, takes a lot more focus and effort, not to mention I recently finally figured out how to play the dang game.

Also I swear to god that vista solitaire is 10 times harder than XP solitaire. Ive only won like 5 out of the 100 games I've played. x-x

  • About a year ago I would've had to disagree with you...because I never understood the game until a year or so ago...but now that I understand the game..it can be addicting at times... I mean sure..if I had my own games, I'd prefer those..but If I'm at a friends house...or a relatives house..(or school) I love to play Minesweeper

  • I personally enjoy pinball a bit more, but only if I know that I am going to be sitting down for at least 10 minutes.  Otherwise, it's minesweeper every time.  Solitaire has a certain notoriety; no doubt.  But so does pong, and lets face it, that game sucks.

  • Interesting fact I learned recently: Minesweeper, Freecell, and Solitaire were all created by Microsoft to train people how to use a computer mouse.

Freecell was meant to teach you how to point and click, simple enough.
Solitaire went a step further and taught users how to drag and drop using that same mouse button.
Minesweeper taught users that there is a difference between right- and left-clicking.

Who knew.  Maybe one day, we'll find out that Notepad was used to brainwash users into drinking more Ovaltine.
