Super Smash Bros.
Super Smash Bros. Melee Overall Comparison The only way I've ever played either of these games is with friends. I've never played through whatever single player mode they may have.
That being said, the original SSB was a ton of fun to play and the controls and gameplay just felt right. So when I first tried playing Melee, I was horribly disappointed by how I felt like I had to button mash in order to do anything. I only played it for about 30 minutes before I stopped playing. There was just something about the controls that I really didn't like, just felt like I wasn't in complete control of what my character was doing on screen.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. I felt the second edition was much more polished, and character balancing and as well as character uniqueness was much more profound.
I'm torn with this one. The original had a lot going for it. It had a a lot more raw intensity, (and the bumper item) While the second one had more characters and levels, and once you got used them them the controls were fine. Mushroom kingdom was nerfed in the second one though, which sucked.
"raw intensity" is the perfect way to put it.
