In late december I headed back to the DC area (home) and began to look for a Wii. I visited every best buy, gamestop, and target within 20 miles and was unsuccessful at locating this glorious piece of hardware. Moreover, no one knew when they're inventory would be restocked. After days of searching both the internet and retail stores, I found a Toys 'r us associate who knew when the Wii would be restocked.
I got to the Toys 'r us roughly 36 minutes prior to opening and was the 23rd person in line. They only had 15 Wii's... Now for those of you who think that 36 minutes was not enough, remember this is not an after launch console, nor is it at a ridiculously low price. This is just a freaking system that has been on the market for over 12 months.
Needless to say, I am frustrated and confused. The manufactures (Nintendo) must know that the demand remains high, and yet production has not been pushed. I watch wiitracker religously to see how quickly they sell. I refused to buy used (I'm just that guy) and I refuse to purchase a bundle of crap I don't want. So I execute the only option I have...waiting.
I hate you Wii
Over the holiday break I visited my niece and nephew in Michigan. For Christmas they received a Nintendo Wii and it was the first time I got to really experience what the wii could offer. It was at this time that I decided that I would get a Wii for myself. In late december I headed back to the DC area (home) and began to look for a Wii. It's just that easy. =)
You'll eventually get your hands on one. It is totally ridiculous that there are still lines for the stupid things.
Oh My, i never thought that people would actually still be in line today! O.O
I've never tried to get the Wii (since i dont have the money), but my brother really wants to get it though. I found a brand new Wii in stock at compuplus.com but i dont know if its still there. And i agree with you, i hate buying used things, they are never reliable.
And Since the demand is so high, I've decided to somewhat leave the system be till I have more of a need/want for it. That way by then I can assure myself the fact that I'll be able to obtain one.
